1. Inspection pit or hydraulic lift with supports.
2. Special tool for loosening the oil filter (oil filter pliers, strap wrench or tool HAZET 2172).
3. A set of sockets for loosening the oil drain plug, as well as a 6 liter container for collecting oil.
The following wear parts are required:
1. Gasket for oil drain plug (sometimes applied to the oil filter).
2. Oil filter cartridge. When buying a spare, indicate the model and year of manufacture.
3. Depending on the engine, 3 to 4 liters of engine oil. Use only oils recommended by MAZDA, see Chapter Engine lubrication system.
Oil quantity
Engine | with filter change | without filter replacement |
E1, E3, E5 | 3, 4 | 3, 2 |
B3, B5, B6, BP (SOHC) | 3, 0 | 2, 8 |
BP (DOHC) | 3, 6 | 3, 4 |
PN (Diesel) | 3, 6 | 3, 2 |
The oil should be changed every 10,000 km, for a diesel engine every 5,000 km. For occasional trips, change the oil once a year. At the same time, the oil filter is replaced.
Under severe operating conditions, short driving distances, frequent cold starts and very dusty streets, the engine oil and oil filter should be changed at shorter intervals.
Attention! Old oil must be handed over to special points. In no case should you pour out the old oil or throw it away with household waste.
Draining engine oil
For gasoline engine
For diesel engine
1. Bring engine oil up to operating temperature (min. +60°C), for this you need to make a trip of 10 - 15 km.
2. Raise the car in a horizontal position.
3. Place a container under the oil pan to collect the oil.
4. Unscrew the filler cap.
5. Unscrew the drain bolt from the bottom of the oil pan and completely drain the old oil.
Attention! If traces of metal chips and wear products are visible in the oil in large quantities, this indicates rust damage, for example, damage to the crankshaft or connecting rod bearings. To avoid further damage, the oil passages must be thoroughly cleaned after the engine has been overhauled.
6. Install the drain bolt with a new gasket and screw firmly 40 Nm.
