Examination
Check the oil level and top up if necessary.
Warm up the engine until the engine oil temperature reaches 80°C.
Remove the oil pressure warning light switch. It is located on the cylinder block next to the oil filter, and on a diesel engine, on the rear of the engine next to the fuel filter. The picture shows a 1.3L engine.

Instead of the oil pressure indicator light switch, screw a pressure gauge into the cylinder block.
Start the engine and let it idle. Check the oil pressure again.
| Engine | Oil temperature | Minimum oil pressure at: | ||
| idle | 2000 rpm | |||
| 1.3 l | 80°C | 0.6 bar | 1.5 bar | |
| 1.2/1.4 l | 80°C | 1.4 bar | 3.0 bar | |
| 1.8 l diesel | 80°C | 0.75 bar | 1.5 bar | |
Lubricate 2-3 threads of the indicator lamp switch with sealant, screw in the switch and tighten it to 15 Nm (1.3 l and diesel engines - 20 Nm).
If the pressure is low, see section "Troubleshooting".
