The driver and passenger in front should be aware that if they are not properly fastened with seat belts, when the air bag inflates, they can be seriously injured, and the possibility of death cannot be ruled out. In the event of sudden braking prior to a collision, the driver or passenger in front who is not wearing a proper seat belt may move forward close to the air bag, which may then deploy in the event of a collision. To achieve maximum protection during an accident, the driver and all passengers in the vehicle must be properly fastened with seat belts. Infants and children who are improperly seated or strapped in can be killed or seriously injured when an air bag deploys.
Children who are too young to use seat belts must be properly secured using a child restraint system. Firm "Mazda"/ "Ford" strongly recommends that all children be in the back seat of the vehicle and be properly secured. The back seat is the safest for children.
Never place a child seat rearward on the front seat as the force of the rapid inflation of the airbag could cause death or serious injury to the child. The front-facing child seat should only be placed in the front seat as a last resort, when it is unavoidable.
Always move the seat as far back as possible.
Do not let your child get up and kneel in the front seat. The airbag inflates with considerable speed and force; the child could be seriously injured. Do not hold the child on your lap or in your arms.
Do not sit on the edge of the seat or lean over the instrument panel while the vehicle is in motion.
Do not place objects or animals on or against the instrument panel or steering wheel pads that contain the airbag system. They can prevent the airbag from inflating or cause serious injury or death as they are thrown back by the force of the deploying airbags.
Moreover, the driver and the passenger sitting in front should not hold things in their hands or on their knees.
Do not modify, remove, strike or open any components as. for example, the steering wheel pad, steering wheel, steering column cover, front passenger air bag cover, or air bag sensor device. Doing so may cause the SRS airbag to inflate suddenly or damage the system.
