The driver and front passenger should be aware that if they are not properly restrained by their seat belts, they could be seriously injured, possibly even killed, when the air bag inflates. If the vehicle brakes suddenly before a collision, the driver or front passenger who is not properly restrained by their seat belt could be thrown forward close to the air bag, which could then deploy during the collision. For maximum protection during a crash, the driver and all occupants of the vehicle must be properly restrained by their seat belts. Infants and children who are not properly restrained or restrained could be killed or seriously injured when the air bag deploys.
Children who are too young to use seat belts should be properly secured in a child restraint system "Mazda"/ "Ford" strongly recommends that all children be seated in the rear seat of the vehicle and be properly secured. The rear seat is the safest place for children.
Never place a rear-facing child seat on the front seat as the force of the air bag rapidly inflating could cause death or serious injury to the child. A front-facing child seat should only be placed on the front seat as a last resort when it is unavoidable.
You should always move the seat as far back as possible.

Do not allow your child to stand or kneel in the front seat. The air bag inflates with considerable speed and force; the child may be seriously injured. Do not hold the child on your lap or in your arms.
Do not sit on the edge of the seat or lean over the instrument panel while the vehicle is moving.
Do not place objects or animals on or in front of the instrument panel or steering wheel cushion where the air bag system is located. They may prevent the air bag from inflating or could cause serious injury or death if thrown backward by the force of the deploying air bags.
Moreover, the driver and the passenger sitting in front should not hold things in their hands or on their laps.

Do not modify, remove, strike or open any components such as the steering wheel pad, steering wheel, steering column cover, front passenger air bag cover or air bag sensor assembly. Such actions may cause the SRS air bag to inflate unexpectedly or cause the system to malfunction.
