grease (lithium multipurpose grease)
1. Mark the position of the wheel disc in relation to the hub so that the balanced wheel can be returned to its original position.
2. Loosen the nuts of the front wheels of the car standing on the ground.
3. Raise the car.
4. Remove the front wheels.
5. Loosen the stabilizer support on the transverse arm, for which unscrew the nut -1- and remove the bolt -3- with intermediate elements -2-. On cars up to 9/89, issue. and all models "station wagon" bolt opposite to the picture, installed from top to bottom.
6. To unscrew a bolt -4- on a forward support of the cross-section lever.
7. Unscrew the clamp on the rear arm support (bolt -5-).
8. Loosen nut -6-, remove bolt -6- on steering knuckle. Pull the ball joint pin down from the steering knuckle and remove the lever.
Attention! If the ball joint pin cannot be removed by hand, insert a pry bar between the ball joint and the steering knuckle. Do not damage the cuff of the hinge, put a rag on it.
Installation
1. Check the wear of the lever bearings and steering knuckle, replace if necessary, see Chapter Checking/replacing the transverse arm/steering knuckle support.
2. Insert the transverse arm on the body and the steering knuckle, tighten the bolts and nuts by hand, do not tighten yet.
3. Screw on the stabilizer without completely tightening the fastening bolts.
4. Screw the wheel, taking into account the labels applied when removing. Lower the vehicle and tighten the wheel nuts crosswise with force 100 Nm.
5. Rock the car several times to settle the wheel suspension.
6. Models up to 9/89, issue. and models "station wagon": Screw on the stabilizer nut until the length of the protruding thread is equal to 10.8 mm.
7. Models since 10/89, except "station wagon": Screw on the stabilizer nut until the length of the protruding thread is within the 17-19 mm.
8. Tighten the rear and front transverse arm bearings with force 110 Nm, the bolt on the steering knuckle with force 60 Nm.
9. As soon as possible, measure the wheel alignment in the workshop.
