The lambda probe is screwed into the exhaust pipe in front of the catalytic converter.
Caution: The connecting wire of the lambda probe cannot be repaired or soldered. If the wire is damaged, replace the lambda probe assembly.
Removal
1.25/1.4L engine: Remove twelve bolts and heat shield from exhaust manifold.

Remove the plug (1).
Unscrew the lambda probe (2) from the front (intake) exhaust pipe.
Installation
Attention: When replacing the lambda probe, use exactly the same unit.

Clean the threads.
Lubricate the lambda probe threads only with special grease for lambda probes. New lambda probes are already lubricated with this grease. The grease should not get on the splines or into the holes of the lambda probe body. If possible, do not touch the body of the new lambda probe and do not contaminate it.
Caution: If the probe is screwed in without high-temperature lubrication, the threads may rust over time, and therefore the lambda probe cannot be unscrewed later.
Screw in the lambda probe and tighten it to a torque of 40 Nm.
Put on the lambda probe plug.
