In vehicles with a controlled catalytic converter, leaks in the exhaust system before the lambda probe can lead to the following damage:

Difficulty starting: the engine stalls, idles unstably. Runs intermittently when accelerating. Test conditions: engine cold or warm.

Start the engine and check the exhaust system for leaks by plugging the exhaust pipe with a rag.

At the same time, the assistant must visually check all connecting flanges for the presence of escaping exhaust gases (hissing sound, gas release is felt by hand).

Spray the connection points: cylinder head/manifold and manifold/exhaust pipe with a special leak detection compound and check for bubbles.

Eliminate the leak.
