Removal

Disconnect the negative cable from the battery with the ignition off. This will erase the data from the electronic memory units. See the instructions in Chapter "Electrical equipment".

Disconnect the license plate lights by inserting a small screwdriver between the light and the bumper and pushing the light out.

Note: Place a cloth between the screwdriver and the bumper to avoid scratching the parts.

Disconnect the license plate light connectors.

Unscrew two mounting bolts in the wheel arch on the right and left.

Open the rear door and, using a socket wrench, unscrew the two bumper mounting nuts from inside the car.

Pull the bumper out of the wheel well and, with the help of an assistant, remove it back from the car.

Installation

With the help of an assistant, bring the bumper up from behind, insert it into the holes and push it into place. Make sure that the studs are fully inserted into the body; the ends of the bumper should match the wheel arches.

Tighten the mounting nuts and bolts in the wheel arches by hand.

Check if the bumper is horizontal and if the gap between the bumper and the body is uniform. Tighten the bumper fasteners.

Place the plugs on the license plate lights and press the lights into the bumper. Check the operation of the lights.

Connect the negative cable to the battery, set the clock, enter codes if necessary.
