If the resistance of the high-voltage wires is too high, difficulties with starting the engine and interruptions in spark formation may occur.

Turn off the ignition.

Remove the spark plug connectors by pulling on the connector, not the wire.

Remove the spark plug connectors by pulling on the connector, not the wire.

Squeeze the two tabs on each high-tension wire connector and pull the wire off the ignition coil.

Measure the resistance of all four high-voltage wires between the plugs at both ends of the wire. The resistance values should be between 5 kOhm and 30 kOhm.

If the resistance is too high, clean the wire connections and repeat the test, replacing the wire if necessary.

Bend the high-voltage wires in the area of the plugs and check for cracks. Replace the wire if necessary.

Place the high-voltage wire onto the ignition coil, making sure that the fastening tabs snap into place.

Note: The high-voltage wire bushings on the ignition coil are marked with numbers from 1 to 4. The wires must be installed in the correct order: 1-3-4-2 (1.3L engine: 1-2-4-3). The first cylinder is located next to the engine poly V-belt.
