To avoid injury and/or damage to the electronic ignition system, the following rules must be observed when working with electronic ignition systems:
- Do not pull high-voltage wires or touch them with bare hands while the engine is running or while the engine is cranking with the starter.
- Disconnect the ignition system wires only when the ignition is off.
- Connecting and disconnecting measuring instrument wires (tachometer/ignition tester) perform only with the ignition off.
- When the ignition is switched on, all spark plug plugs must be placed on the spark plugs. If a spark check is required in the event of a malfunction, it can only be performed on one spark plug. To ensure good contact of the spark plug with the "mass", you need to firmly press the plug of the spark plug or the spark plug itself to the "mass" (for example, a cylinder block) using pliers with insulated handles, but never by hand.
- Before checking the compression, remove the fuel pump relay and disconnect the plug from the ignition coil.
- The car should not heat up more than 80°C (for example, when drying after painting or when steam cleaning). After the car has cooled down a little, start the engine immediately.
- Wash the engine only with the ignition off.
- When carrying out electric welding work, completely disconnect the battery.
