Caution: When removing/installing the brake drum, the spring may jump out and injure you. Use safety glasses or cover the brake drum with a rag when removing.


Remove the parts in the order they are numbered in the assembly drawing "Removing and installing the brake mechanism".

Note:
  • Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal.
  • After installation, follow these steps:
  • press the brake pedal several times and, rotating the wheels by hand, make sure that the wheels rotate easily and smoothly;
  • check the brake pedal travel.

Install the brake drum.

a) Install the brake mechanism parts. Make sure the parts are installed correctly using the figure.

1 - brake drum,
2 - spring of the thrust lever,
3 - thrust lever,
4 - upper return spring,
5 - front brake shoe spring retainer,
6 - front brake shoe guide pin,
7 - regulator,
8 - front brake shoe,
9 - lower return spring,
10 - rear brake shoe spring retainer,
11 - rear brake shoe guide pin,
12 - parking brake drive cable,
13 - rear brake shoe,
14 - retaining ring,
15 - parking brake drive lever,
16 - brake pipe,
17 - working brake cylinder,
18 - drawdown.


b) Rotate the adjuster to adjust the outer diameter (M) of the brake pads.


  • Nominal value - 294.3 - 294.7 mm
