Attention: When removing/installing the brake drum, the spring may jump out and injure you. Use safety goggles or cover the brake drum with a rag when removing.
Remove parts in the order they are numbered on the assembly drawing "Removal and installation of the brake mechanism".
Note:
- Installation is made in an order, the return to removal.
- After installation, perform the following procedures:
- press the brake pedal several times and, turning the wheels by hand, make sure that the wheels turn easily and smoothly;
- Check the brake pedal travel.
Removal note
Remove/install the upper return spring with a slotted screwdriver while holding onto the spring to prevent it from popping out.
Installation Notes
Install the brake drum.
A) Install the brake parts. Check the illustration to see if the parts are installed correctly.

1 - brake drum,
2 - thrust lever spring,
3 - thrust lever,
4 - upper return spring,
5 - spring retainer of the front brake shoe,
6 - guide pin of the front brake shoe,
7 - regulator,
8 - front brake shoe,
9 - lower return spring,
10 - spring retainer of the rear brake shoe,
11 - rear brake shoe guide pin,
12 - parking brake cable,
13 - rear brake shoe,
14 - retaining ring,
15 - parking brake lever,
16 - brake pipe,
17 - working brake cylinder,
18 - drawdown.
b) Turn the knob to adjust the outer diameter (M) brake pads.
- Nominal value - 294.3 - 294.7 mm
V) Install the brake drum.
G) Press the brake pedal several times.
d) Make sure the rear wheels turn freely and do not brake.
