Loosen the lock nut and disconnect the parking brake cable housing from the caliper bracket.

Disconnect the parking brake cable from the caliper lever (figure 14.34).
Unscrew and remove the upper and lower caliper guide pins. Remove the caliper from the bracket and place it on the rear brake boot to avoid stretching the brake hose.

Use a screwdriver to pry the brake pads away from the caliper. Mark the position of the anti-squeak spring.
Use a brush to clean the inside of the caliper and check the piston seal for leaks. If it is leaking brake fluid, remove the caliper for repair or replace it. Remove any remaining outer brake pad material left on the caliper.
Using pliers inserted into the designated holes, turn the piston clockwise until it stops and simultaneously press it into the caliper, which will allow the self-adjusting mechanism to return to its original position and create additional space for installing new brake pads. The final position of the cutouts should be such that the locating pin of the inner shoe fits into the inner cutout.
A tube of primer is supplied with new brake pads. Apply a coat of primer to the back of the outer pad immediately before installing it.
Install the anti-squeal spring into the holes in the brake pads. With the two pads pressed together, install them into the caliper, ensuring that the locating pin on the outer pad fits into the hole in the piston and that the springs on the outer pad are secured to the forked ends of the caliper.
Install the caliper onto the bracket. Apply a small amount of high temperature grease to the sliding surfaces of the guide pins and bushing, then screw in the guide pins and tighten them to the specified torque. The finger cones must be clean to ensure a tight fit.
Install the parking brake cable housing onto the bracket and tighten the nut.
Connect the parking brake cable to the caliper lever.
Install the rear wheels and lower the vehicle to the ground.
Press the brake pedal several times to set the brake pads to the working position.
