Figure 10.22. Left pressure regulator: 1 – brake pipe; 2 – bolt; 3 – pressure regulator
The pressure regulator is located on the bulkhead of the engine compartment (figure 10.22). A precise check requires specialized testing equipment, but the occurrence of a malfunction can be judged by the premature locking of the rear wheel brakes when braking under heavy load, or if the rear brakes do not work at all.
To remove the pressure regulator, first clean it from the outside, then unscrew all the tubes from it. Use a rag to collect any leaking brake fluid and be careful not to let any brake fluid come into contact with your vehicle's paintwork.
Loosen the bolt securing the pressure regulator to the bulkhead and remove it.
Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal. After completing all operations, remove air from the hydraulic drive of the brake system.
