Front brake pads



Checking the thickness of the brake pads



1. Jack up the front of the car and place it on stands.

2. Remove the wheels.

3. Check the thickness of the brake shoe linings.
  • Minimum thickness - 2.0 mm

Minimum thickness - 2.0 mm


4. Replace the brake pads as a set (right and left side at the same time), if at least one of the pad linings has a minimum or lesser thickness.

Note:
  • When performing work, refer to the assembly drawing "Replacing brake pads".
  • Do not disconnect the brake hose from the caliper. Otherwise, you will need to perform the brake system bleeding procedure (see section "Bleeding the brake system").
  • When replacing brake pads, there is no need to remove the brake caliper. Loosen the lower caliper mounting bolt and lift it up.


1. Jack up the car and remove the front wheel.

2. Loosen the lower caliper mounting bolt and lift the brake caliper up.

3. Remove the parts in the order they are numbered in the assembly drawing "Replacing the brake pads".

Note:

Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal.

When installing:
  • Using a special tool, completely press the pistons into the cylinders and then install new brake pads.

  • Apply appropriate lubricant to the guide pin and linings (the type of lubricant is indicated on the assembly drawing).
  • After installation, press the brake pedal several times, rotating the wheels by hand, make sure that the wheels rotate easily and smoothly.

1. Remove the brake drum (see chapter "Brake system").

2. Measure the thickness of the brake shoe linings.

Minimum thickness of the overlay is 1.0 mm
