Checking the EGR valve position sensor
1. Disconnect the sensor connector.
2. Using an ohmmeter, measure the resistance between terminals "A" and "B" of the sensor.
- Resistance is about 5 kOhm

If necessary, replace the EGR valve.
Checking the valve
Connect a vacuum pump to the valve and check for air flow between ports "1" and "2" of the valve at the specified vacuum.
Underpressure:
- 30.0-36.6 kPa - valve closed
- other - valve open

If the above conditions are not met, replace the valve.

Checking the control solenoid valve
1. Remove the EGR control solenoid valve.
2. Check the air flow through the valve.
a) Check for air leakage between fittings "A" and "B" and for leakage between fittings "B" and "C".
b) Apply battery voltage to terminal "A" and ground to terminal "B" of the electromagnetic valve. Check for air flow between fittings "A" and "B" and no flow between fittings "B" and "C".

If the described conditions are not met, replace the solenoid valve.
