Fuel pump installation details
1. Fuel inlet and return hoses; 2. Fuel outlet hose; 3. Fuel pump
Warning: Gasoline is extremely flammable, so take extra precautions when working on any part of the fuel system. Smoke near an open flame.
1. Disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal.
2. Use pliers to loosen the clamps, then remove and plug the fuel inlet and outlet hoses (photo). Also remove and plug the fuel return hose.
A bolt can be used to plug the fuel supply hose
3. Remove the fuel pump mounting bolts, pump and gaskets.
4. Install the pump using a new gasket.
5. Connect the fuel lines, start the engine and check for signs of leaks.
