When working with an alternator, certain rules must be observed to avoid damage to the alternator and other parts. Complete disassembly and repair of the generator must be carried out in the workshop.
When an optional battery is connected (e.g. when starting the engine), then it is imperative to ensure that the contacts of both batteries are correctly connected to each other with the correct polarity.
When connecting the charger, connect its wires to the corresponding contacts of the battery, without confusing the polarity.
The engine must not run without a battery.
Never bridge the alternator and voltage regulator contacts.
Never reverse the polarity of the generator connection.
During electric welding, be sure to disconnect the wires from the battery.
