If the water pump is faulty, it must be replaced - it cannot be repaired. If the pump shaft seal is loose, coolant will leak from the cylinder block when the engine is running, namely from the ventilation hole of the water pump drive shaft. The water pump in a gasoline engine is driven by a poly V-belt, in a diesel engine - by a toothed camshaft drive belt.
The operations are described for a 1.3L engine. Instructions for other engines are given at the end of the section.
Removal
Drain and collect the coolant.
Remove the poly V-belt covers.

Loosen the three bolts on the water pump pulley without removing them.
Remove the poly V-belt.
Loosen the bolts and remove the water pump pulley.

Remove the coolant hose from the water pump, first loosening the clamp.

Unscrew the three bolts and remove the water pump.
Installation
Before installation, clean the sealing surfaces with a scraper from rust and dirt. Clean carefully, without scratching the surfaces.
Install the water pump with a new gasket and tighten the mounting bolts to 10 Nm.
Place the coolant hose onto the water pump and secure it with a clamp.
Install the pulley onto the water pump and tighten the bolts by hand.
Install the poly V-belt.
Tighten the water pump pulley mounting bolts to 10 Nm.
