Check the fit of both guide bushings (3) in the cylinder block. These bushings provide precise centering of the block head and gasket.
Position the new gasket without sealant so that the holes do not overlap and the lettering «TOR / OBEN» together (1) was directed towards the head.
Attention: The thickness of the cylinder head gasket is indicated by notches (2). When installing, use a gasket of the same thickness. The number of notches serves as a designation for the thickness of the gasket in accordance with the protrusion of the pistons. Gaskets for oversize cylinder bores are marked with holes instead of notches.
Before installing the cylinder head, check that the camshaft is at TDC.
Install the cylinder head.
Insert new, unlubricated cylinder head bolts and tighten by hand.
Caution: Head bolts must always be replaced. Here we are talking about tensile bolts that have already been used once.
Tighten the cylinder head bolts in the above sequence from 1 to 10 in three stages:
- Step 1: Tighten all bolts to 10 Nm.
- Step 2: Tighten all bolts to 100 Nm. In conclusion, you need to wait about 3 minutes for the bolts to shrink. The next step is carried out in accordance with the tightening sequence on each bolt individually.
- Stage 3: Loosen with a regular wrench by 180°, tighten to 70 Nm, tighten with a regular wrench by 120°.
Attention: Then the block head bolts do not need to be tightened any further. To accurately maintain the tightening angle, you can make a template out of paper or use a suitable protractor.
Screw in glow plugs and tighten to 30 Nm. Connect electrical wires to spark plugs.
Screw in the injectors with new heat shields and tighten to 70 Nm. The recess in the seal must point upwards. The arrow points towards the cylinder head.
Further installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal.
Install toothed belts.
