Checking the steering wheel effort (Mazda BT-50 (1))

1. Place the vehicle on a level, hard surface.

2. Start the engine and warm up the power steering fluid to 50-60°C.

Note: To warm up the fluid, turn the steering wheel all the way to the right and left several times.


3. With the engine idling, connect the dynamometer as shown in the figure. With the front wheels in a straight-ahead position, measure the steering wheel force in both directions.
  • Steering wheel force - no more than 7.8 N

If the measured force exceeds the set limit, check:
  • liquid level in the tank;
  • no air in the system;
  • no fluid leaks in the hose or connections;
  • serviceability of the pump and steering gear;
  • tire pressure.
