1. If the transmission does not downshift when the accelerator pedal is pressed all the way down, and it is known that the electromagnetic unit of the forced reverse gear shift mechanism is in good working order (Chapter 5), the switch of this mechanism is faulty or incorrectly adjusted.

2. Press the accelerator pedal fully and check the continuity between the terminals by connecting an ohmmeter as shown in the illustration.

3. Loosen the lock nut and turn the downshift switch until an ohmmeter indicates continuity when the accelerator pedal is depressed approximately seven-eighths of its travel. Tighten the locknut.
