Input shaft seal
1. Remove the transmission (Chapter 7).
2. Remove the torque converter from the input shaft.
3. Remove the old seal using a small screwdriver or punch (photo).
Use a punch or similar tool to remove the input shaft seal
4. Coat the inner edge of the seal with clean engine oil and tap it into place until it is flush with the crankcase (photo). The sealing edge should be facing inward.
Tap the new seal into place
5. Install the torque converter.
6. Install the transmission.
Drive shaft seals
7. Disconnect the left drive shaft or remove the connecting shaft (Section 8). If it is necessary to disconnect both shafts, insert a wooden dowel or something similar to lock the differential bevel gears. Prevent dirt from entering the transmission.

8. Remove the old seal using a screwdriver (photo).

9. Lubricate the inside edge of the new seal with clean motor oil or white lithium grease. Using a piece of tubing or a large 45mm diameter socket, install the seal in place (photo). The sealing lip should be facing inward.
Use a socket and rubber mallet to install the new drive shaft seal into the transmission case
10. Install the drive or connecting shafts (Section 8).
