Shift rod — checking and adjusting (Mazda Capella GC)

1. Sequentially set the driving mode selector lever to each of the positions. Make sure the lever on the transmission moves to the appropriate position and locks in it. When you move the lever into any of the positions, you should feel a slight resistance.

2. The lever should move between the "D" and "N" positions without pressing the button on its handle. Moving from "D" to "R" should only be possible by pressing it.

3. If the button is loose or if the lever moves from "D" to "R" without pressing the button, adjust the lever handle. Loosen the lock nut, turn the handle as required and retighten the lock nut.
