This section describes the checks and adjustments necessary to maintain high vehicle performance, economy, traffic safety and durability.
In order to ensure reliable operation of the car during the entire period of operation, it is necessary to carry out maintenance in a timely manner. The manufacturer has set the maintenance intervals shown below.
Keep in mind that you must strictly adhere to the maintenance schedule; performing only a few maintenance items in accordance with the indicated intervals will not give optimal results.
If maintenance is performed irregularly, the normal operation of various units and devices of the car is disrupted. This is especially true of a used car engine that has not been subjected to regular or timely checks. In such cases, in addition to periodic maintenance, it is necessary to carry out additional adjustment work.
When servicing a car, many of the operations can and should be grouped due to the similarity of the nature of the work. This is illustrated by the following example. With the vehicle raised to lubricate the chassis components, the exhaust system, suspension, steering and fuel system can be checked at the same time.
If the wheels are removed for periodic tire rotation, the condition of the brakes and wheel bearings should be checked.
If you borrowed a torque wrench, check the spark plug and wheel bearing torques at the same time. Car maintenance requires little skill, so read the relevant sections first. Gather all the necessary parts and tools. If you encounter unexpected problems while performing any operation, consult your dealer.
