Attention: If the timing parts are to be reused, they must be installed in the same positions. To avoid confusion, it is recommended to make a special storage box.
Removing
Remove toothed belt.
Loosen and unscrew the camshaft bearing cap bolts evenly so as not to bend the camshafts. Position the bearing caps in the correct order.
Carefully remove camshafts and lay them aside.
Installation
Lubricate camshafts and camshaft bearings with clean engine oil before installation.
Position the camshafts in the position corresponding to the TDC of the first cylinder. Make sure that none of the camshaft lobes point vertically downwards, otherwise the valves may hit the pistons.
Note: The exhaust camshaft has an additional cam for operating the camshaft position sensor.
Lubricate the first bearing cap and the sealing surface mating with it on the cylinder head with a thin layer of sealant 2 to 3 mm wide.
Tighten all bearing cap bolts in sequence shown (see picture above) first with a torque of 6 Nm, and during the second pass with a torque of 15 Nm.
Lubricate new camshaft seals with clean engine oil. For installation, a tool similar to the one shown in the figure or a pipe with a diameter equal to the diameter of the stuffing box is used. Install the pipe on the stuffing box and, evenly tapping on it with a rubber mallet, hammer the stuffing box until it stops.
Install toothed belt and parts removed from engine.
