- 1. Support the vehicle front and side. Engage fifth gear, tighten the parking brake. Turn the suspended front wheel. This will turn the crankshaft of the engine. An assistant is needed to turn the wheel.
- 2. Put the car on a flat surface. Engage fifth gear. Roll the car forward or backward.
- 3. Set the gearbox to neutral. Turn the crankshaft at the central bolt of the vibration damper (V-belt pulley), putting on a cap head (clockwise).
Caution: Do not turn the engine over the camshaft sprocket bolt. Because of this, the toothed belt will be overloaded.
Crank the engine until it is possible to insert an adjusting device or a suitable ruler into the grooves of the camshafts - they are fixed at the top dead center position (TDC).
Caution: If the tool cannot be inserted, turn the crankshaft one more turn.
Attach the hoist chain to the right eye of the engine. You can support the engine with a hydraulic jack by placing a block of wood between its head and the oil pan.
Raise the engine until the right engine mount is unloaded.
Loosen the bolts and remove the right engine mount.
Loosen the bolts and remove the pulley (2) for the water pump.
Unscrew the bolt and remove the intermediate roller (1).
Loosen the bolts and remove the upper toothed belt cover (3).
Loosen the bolts and remove the holder of the right engine mount (7).
If the toothed belt is to be removed completely, then unscrew the central bolt while holding the vibration damper with the special tool.
Remove the vibration damper from the crankshaft using a puller. The puller is attached to the vibration damper with two bolts.
Unscrew the bolts of the bottom cover of the toothed belt (4) and remove it together with the washer (5). Loosen the bolt and remove the anti-torsion safety device.
Loosen toothed belt. To do this, compress the tensioner pistons with a clamp until the hole in the body matches the hole in the piston. In this position, insert a drill with a diameter of 1.5 mm into the holes, fixing the tensioner.
Attention! Sweep the spirals on the drill with adhesive tape to avoid damage.
Remove toothed belt.
Loosen the bolts of both camshaft sprockets while holding the camshafts with an open end wrench.
Attention: When unscrewing the bolts, remove the adjusting ruler from the camshafts, and after unscrewing, insert it back.
Remove both camshaft sprockets from the camshaft cones by lightly tapping with a rubber mallet. Tighten the fastening bolts slightly so that the camshaft sprockets can turn relative to the shafts without staggering.
