A drive gear is installed on the nose of the engine crankshaft, used to drive the balance shafts and the high-pressure fuel pump (through a system of gears) and the gas distribution mechanism. The thrust half rings are installed in the support of the third main journal.
The main bearing caps are separate. The main bearing shells are made of aluminum alloy. The upper main bearing shells have oil holes and grooves through which oil is supplied to the crankshaft.
A damper and a special cover are installed on the crankshaft pulley, which serve to reduce vibrations and noise.
