1. The input shaft seal can only be replaced after removing the transmission. Drive shaft seals can be replaced with the transmission installed. Proceed as described below.
2. Separate the drive shaft or coupling shaft from the transmission as described in Section 8.
3. Carefully pry out the old seal using a blunt screwdriver or similar tool.
4. Coat the new oil seal with transmission oil. Position the seal with the open side facing the transmission and use a tubular drift or large socket to seat the seal in place.
5. Install the drive shaft or coupling shaft as described in Section 8.
