Removal

Disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal.

Open the rear door and place a support underneath it.

Place protective pads around the edges of the rear door opening to protect painted surfaces from damage. Place a clean rag under the top corners of the tailgate to protect the vehicle's paint while removing it.

Use a marker to mark the position of the rear door hinges.

Disconnect any wiring harnesses that may interfere with the rear door removal.

Loosen the hinge bolts and, with the help of an assistant, remove the rear door.

Position the rear door so that the hinge positions align with the marks made before removing the door.

The position of the hinge and the strike plate can be adjusted after loosening the bolts securing the strike plate and the nuts securing the hinges to the body (figure 12.3, 12.4). To access the hinge mounting nuts, carefully lift the door trim panel and headliner with a lever and adjust the position of the door by moving it.

Rear door stop

Open the rear door fully.

Loosen the nut securing the stop to the rear door.

Unscrew the lower bolts securing the stop to the body and remove the door.

Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal.
