If the hood latch needs to be reinstalled, mark the position of the latch with a marker.

Remove the lock nut and bolt, disconnect the hood lock cable and remove the locking mechanism (pic. 12.1).
In the car, loosen the nut securing the cable and disconnect it from the bracket.
Tie a cord to the cable, pull it into the car interior and untie the cord, leaving it in the partition of the engine compartment. A cord will be required to pull the new cable into place.
Tie a cord to the new cable and pull it through the bulkhead of the engine compartment.
Further installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal.
If the old cable is damaged, the hood can be opened by lifting the front of the vehicle and operating the lock from underneath the vehicle using a long, thin screwdriver.
