Drain approximately 1 liter of transmission fluid from the transmission case until its level is below the vacuum diaphragm.
Disconnect the vacuum hose and remove the vacuum diaphragm from the transmission housing.

Connect a vacuum pump to the diaphragm and check that the piston moves under vacuum (figure 9.23). If the stem does not move or moves less than 25 mm, replace the diaphragm.
Before installation, lubricate the diaphragm threads with sealant.
