If the transmission does not downshift when the accelerator pedal is fully depressed and the downshift solenoid is not working properly, the downshift mechanism may be faulty or require adjustment.

When you press the accelerator pedal all the way, an ohmmeter connected according to the diagram shown in the figure 9.24, should show the absence of a break in the circuit between the contacts.

Adjustment
Loosen the lock nut and rotate the downshift mechanism until an ohmmeter indicates no continuity with the accelerator pedal at 7/8 of its travel. Tighten the lock nut.
