Disconnect the speedometer drive cable.
Disconnect the shift cable from the transmission.
Disconnect the ground wires from the gearbox.
Disconnect the connectors from the lock-up switch and the downshift solenoid.
Remove the starter.
There are two main ways to support the weight of the engine while removing the crossmember and transmission. You can use a special device that rests on the suspension supports, or a winch to lift the engine.
If a support device is used, install it first. If using a winch to lift the engine, remove the hood first to increase working space.
Install an engine support device and raise the vehicle to provide sufficient clearance to lower the transmission, securely support the vehicle on jack stands.
Disconnect the oil cooler lines from the transmission.
Disconnect and secure to the body all remaining vacuum hoses and connectors disconnected from the transmission.
Remove the upper bolt securing the gearbox to the engine.
Remove the front wheels and mudguards. Remove the oil pan protective plate.
Disconnect the anti-roll bar, unscrew the lower ball joint mounting bolts and nuts, and separate the ball joints.
Disconnect the left drive shaft from the gearbox and secure it to the body using soft wire.

Have an assistant turn the engine crankshaft with a wrench on the pulley mounting bolt to position it so that the torque converter mounting bolts can be accessed.
Remove all but two bolts from the crossmember assembly.
Place the jack under the crossmember, remove the bolts and lower the crossmember.
Use a jack to support the gearbox through a wooden block.
After ensuring that the engine weight is supported by the support device, remove the two lower transmission-to-engine mounting bolts.
Move the gearbox away from the engine and carefully remove it from under the vehicle.
Installation
Raise the transmission and attach it to the engine, making sure the torque converter is not displaced.
Install the gearbox mounting bolts to the engine and tighten them to the specified torque.
Install the engine cross member.
Further installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal, taking into account the following.
Make sure all nuts and bolts are tightened to the specified torque.
Check the working fluid level.
