Checking the clutch operation (Mazda Capella GC)

Before performing any work on the clutch, several checks must be performed to determine if there is a fault with the clutch.

When the engine is running and the brake is engaged, press the clutch pedal until it reaches approximately 125 mm to the lower limit of the pedal stroke, and move the gearshift lever back and forth several times. If the gears shift smoothly, then the clutch is working properly. If gear shifting is difficult, it means that the clutch is not fully releasing the clutch pressure plate and the traction must be checked.

Inspect the clutch pedal bushings for wear and tightness.
