Caution! Observe safety precautions when working with gasoline.
1. Check that the fuel tank filler cap is tightly closed.
2. Inspect the fuel lines for cracks, wear, or other damage. Check the reliability of the connections and fastenings of the tubes.
3. If possible, check for leaks around the injectors.

4. Inspect the fuel tank and filler hose for punctures, cracks, or other damage. Check the reliability of the fuel tank fastenings and the tightening of the clamp (indicated by the arrow).

5. Check the fuel vapor collection system hoses and the carbon canister (indicated by the arrow). The carbon canister is located under the vehicle's rear deck on 1998 Mazda 626 models.
