2. Raise the vehicle and support it on supports.
3. Place a pan under the gearbox and unscrew the drain plug. Once the fluid has drained, wipe the plug clean and replace it.
Ford models with CD4E transmission and Mazda models with LA4-EL transmission
4. Lower the car to the ground. See point 11 below.
Ford models with 4EAT transmission and Mazda models with GF4A-EL transmission
5. Remove the transmission pan mounting bolts and remove the pan. Remove the old gasket.

6. Pour out the old fluid from the pan, rinse the pan with solvent and dry it. Don't forget to put the magnets back in place.

7. Loosen the mounting bolts (indicated by arrows) and remove the old filter.

8. Install the sealing ring onto the new filter, reinstall the filter and tighten the mounting bolts.
9. Install a new oil pan gasket and position the oil pan onto the transmission. Tighten the mounting bolts to the specified torque.
10. Lower the car to the ground.
All models
11. Remove the oil dipstick and pour new oil into the transmission through the dipstick tube.
12. Start the engine and move the shift lever through all positions in turn. Put the transmission in park again and check the fluid level. Add fluid if necessary.
