Draining the coolant

1. Remove the radiator cap by pressing on the radiator cap and turning it counterclockwise, and the filler cap depending on the model. Remove the expansion tank cap.

2. Open the drain plug located at the bottom of the radiator and drain the coolant from the radiator. Disconnect the lower radiator hose and drain the coolant from the engine. If the coolant is rusty in color, the cooling system must be flushed.
Flushing the cooling system
1. Remove the thermostat.
2. Reconnect the lower radiator hose. Turn the interior temperature control knob to the "HOT" position to flush the heater coil and the cooling system.
3. Disconnect the upper radiator hose and flush the radiator with clean running water or a special cleaning agent. If the radiator is heavily clogged, remove the radiator and have it professionally flushed and/or repaired.
Filling the coolant
1. Install the thermostat in place and connect the cooling system hoses.
2. Pour coolant into the coolant reservoir.
