Examination
1. Connect a tachometer. Connect the TEN and GND terminals of the diagnostic connector. On 4-cylinder Ford Probe models, disconnect the idle air valve connector.
2. Start the engine and warm it up to normal operating temperature. Make sure all vehicle electrical equipment is turned off.
3. Release the accelerator pedal and measure the engine idle speed.
Adjustment
1. On all models except 4-cylinder Ford Probe models, connect the TEN and GND terminals of the diagnostic connector (1).
2. To adjust the idle speed, turn the adjusting screw. The idle speed adjustment screw is located on the throttle body.
