2. Remove the tie rod end and unscrew the lock nut (see paragraph 16).
3. Remove the outer clamp securing the protective cover (figure 17.3,a) using pliers. Cut the inner clamp of the cover (figure 17.3.6). Remove the cover.

4. Before installing the new boot, wrap the threaded parts of the steering rod with tape to prevent damage to the boot during installation.
5. Place the new cover so that it fits into the special recess and install the new clamps.
6. Remove the tape from the threaded parts and tighten the lock nut onto the steering rod end (see paragraph 16).
7. Install the wheel and tighten the nuts. Lower the vehicle and tighten the wheel nuts to the specified torque (see Technical data at the beginning of Chapter 1).
