Removing
1. Disconnect the wire from the negative battery terminal.
Warning! If your car is equipped with an anti-theft radio, make sure you have the code to unlock it before disconnecting the battery.
2. Using a syringe, remove as much fluid as possible from the power steering reservoir. Place a drip pan under the vehicle to prevent fluid leakage when the hoses are disconnected.
Models with 4-cylinder engine
3. Turn out two bolts of fastening of a casing of a driving belt and disconnect a casing from the pump. Please note that some models do not include a shroud.
4. Loosen the pump pulley bolt, but do not remove the bolt. The pulley is removed from the pump only after removing the belt.
5. Turn out lock and adjusting bolts, then remove a belt (see chapter 1).
6. Disconnect the hose from the booster hydraulic reservoir (pic. 19.6), unscrew the mounting bolts and disconnect the hose from the pump.
7. Turn out a bolt of fastening of the pressure head pipeline to the pump and disconnect the pipeline. Remove and discard sealing washers. You will need new washers when installing the pump.
8. Disconnect the electrical connector from the pump.
9. Turn out bolts of fastening of the pump and remove it from the car.
Models with 6-cylinder engine
10. In the engine compartment, remove the pressure pipe bracket bolt from the pump adjusting bracket. Turn out from coca a bolt of fastening of the pressure head pipeline (pic. 19.10). Remove and discard copper sealing washers. You will need new washers when installing the pump.
11. Loosen the front wheel nuts on the passenger side, raise the front of the car and place it on a support. Apply the parking brake and remove the front wheel. Remove the engine mudguard.
12. Loosen the pump pulley bolt, but do not remove the bolt. The pulley is removed from the pump only after removing the belt.
13. Turn out lock and adjusting bolts, then remove a belt (see chapter 1).
14. Turn out bolts of fastening of the pipeline leading from a reservoir of a hydraulic system (see fig. 19.10).
15. Disconnect the electrical connector from the pump.
16. Remove the pump belt tension adjustment bracket (pic. 19.16).
17. Turn out bolts of fastening of the pump and remove it from the car.
Installation
18. Pump installation is carried out in sequence. reverse withdrawal. Tighten the pressure pipe fitting bolt to the required torque. Tension the pump drive belt (see chapter 1).
19. Bring the fluid level in the hydraulic system reservoir to the required (see chapter 1) and bleed the air from the hydraulic system (see paragraph 20).
