Removal
1. Disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal.
Caution: If your vehicle is equipped with a theft-protected car stereo, make sure you have the unlock code before disconnecting the battery.
2. Using a syringe, remove as much fluid as possible from the power steering reservoir. Place a tray under the vehicle to prevent fluid leakage when disconnecting the hoses.
Models with 4-cylinder engine
3. Remove the two drive belt cover mounting bolts and detach the cover from the pump. Please note that some models do not come with a cover.
4. Loosen the pump pulley mounting bolt, but do not remove the bolt. The pulley is removed from the pump only after the belt has been removed.
5. Remove the locking and adjusting bolts, then remove the belt (see chapter 1).
6. Disconnect the hose from the power steering reservoir (figure 19.6), unscrew the mounting bolts and disconnect the hose from the pump.

7. Unscrew the bolt securing the pressure pipeline to the pump and disconnect the pipeline. Remove and discard the sealing washers. When installing the pump, you will need new washers.
8. Disconnect the electrical connector from the pump.
9. Unscrew the pump mounting bolts and remove it from the vehicle.
Models with 6-cylinder engine
10. In the engine compartment, unscrew the pressure line bracket bolt from the pump adjustment bracket. Remove the pressure pipe mounting bolt from the pump (figure 19.10). Remove and discard the copper sealing washers. When installing the pump, you will need new washers.

11. Loosen the front passenger side wheel nuts, raise the front of the vehicle and place it on jack stands. Apply the parking brake and remove the front wheel. Remove the engine splash shield.
12. Loosen the pump pulley mounting bolt, but do not remove the bolt. The pulley is removed from the pump only after the belt has been removed.
13. Loosen the locking and adjusting bolts, then remove the belt (see chapter 1).
14. Unscrew the bolts securing the pipeline leading from the hydraulic system reservoir (see Figure 19.10).
15. Disconnect the electrical connector from the pump.
16. Remove the pump belt tension adjustment bracket (figure 19.16).

17. Unscrew the pump mounting bolts and remove it from the vehicle.
Installation
18. Installation of the pump is carried out in sequence. reverse of removal. Tighten the pressure line fitting bolt to the specified torque. Tighten the pump drive belt (see chapter 1).
19. Raise the fluid level in the hydraulic system reservoir to the required level (see chapter 1) and remove air from the hydraulic system (see paragraph 20).
