Warning. If your vehicle's audio system is equipped with anti-theft protection, make sure you have the unlock code before disconnecting the battery.
2. Remove the air intake duct and air cleaner (see chapter 4).
4-cylinder engine
3. Remove the bracket connecting the intake manifold to the starter.
V-engine with automatic transmission
4. Disconnect the shift cable from the transmission lever (see chapter 7B).
5. Disconnect the electrical connectors for the throttle position sensor, knock sensor, distributor, injector wiring harness, and any other wiring that may interfere with starter removal. Move the wires to the side.
6. Remove the transmission mode shift cable bracket (see chapter 7B).
All models
7. Mark and disconnect the wires from the starter. Unhook the starter ERA ACE pro zeros that are attached to it.
8. Loosen the starter mounting bolts (figure 15.8, a, b) and remove it from the engine.


9. Install the starter in reverse order.
