Removing
1. Disconnect the negative cable from the battery.
Warning. If your car's audio system is equipped with an anti-theft protection, make sure you know the unlock code before disconnecting the battery.
2. Tag and disconnect all generator connectors and ground straps.
4 cylinder engine
3. To access the generator, remove the front cross member (see chapter 12). On some models, you will also need to remove the front section of the exhaust system (see chapter 4).
V-engine
4. Remove the clean air duct (see chapter 4) and mudguard from under the engine. Remove the compressor mounting bolts and move it to the side without disconnecting the hoses from it.
All engines
5. Loosen alternator adjustment gods and axle bolts (4 cylinder engine) or tensioner nut and adjusting bolt (V-engine), then remove the belt (pic. 12.5, a-g).
6. Turn out bolts of fastening of the generator and remove it from the engine.
7. If the generator is removed for replacement, take the old one with you when you go to buy a new one. Make sure that the new generator looks the same as the old one. The number, size and pinout of the new generator should be the same. Look at the identification numbers of the generators. The number must be stamped on the body or on a plate attached to it. The numbers must match.
8. A new alternator may not have a pulley. In this case, rearrange the pulley from the old generator.
Installation
9. Installation is performed in the reverse order of removal.
10. After installing the generator, adjust the belt tension (see chapter 1).
11. Check the operation of the new alternator by checking the charging voltage (see paragraph 11).
