General information about repairing a four-cylinder engine (Mazda Capella GF)

This chapter describes the procedures for repairing a 4-cylinder engine without removing it from the vehicle. Information on engine removal and installation, as well as repair of the cylinder head and block is given in chapter 2B.

The description of repair procedures assumes that the engine is in the vehicle. If the engine has been removed from the vehicle and mounted on a stand, many of the steps described here can be skipped.

The technical data given at the beginning of this chapter applies only to the procedures described in that chapter. The technical data required for repairing the cylinder head and block are given in chapter 2B.

Caution: If your vehicle has a theft-protected audio system, make sure you have the unlock code before disconnecting the battery.
