The battery is located on the left side of the engine compartment.

Caution: The wires from the battery must be disconnected only when the ignition is off, otherwise the injection system control unit will be damaged.

Caution: When the vehicle battery is disconnected, the following electronic memory units will be erased:

In the injection system control unit, the so-called "learned" values of the engine operation parameters are erased. These are, for example, the idle speed adjustment parameters determined for a specific engine. After reconnecting the wires to the battery, some deficiencies in engine operation will be observed for some time (jerking, hesitation during acceleration or uneven idle).

All fault codes for the fuel injection and ignition systems are erased from the diagnostic unit memory block.

The radio receiver erases the anti-theft codes and settings. Anti-theft coding is usually only present in serially installed radio receivers. If the code is unknown, the radio receiver can only be restored to normal operation in a specialized workshop. Therefore, before disconnecting the battery, you must be sure that there are anti-theft coding codes that must be entered to restore normal operation of the radio receiver.

Removal

Open the hood.

Caution: Before disconnecting the wires from the battery, check that all current consumers in the vehicle are switched off.

Turn off the ignition.

Disconnect the wires from the battery, first the negative wire (1), then the positive (2). If there is one, lift up the cover over the positive terminal of the battery.

Unscrew the mounting nuts (3) and remove the mounting bracket.

Installation

Installation

Before installation, clean the battery contacts and wires leading to the battery with a special brass brush.

Install the battery, install the mounting bracket and secure it with nuts.

Attention: Before connecting the wires to the battery, check that all current consumers in the car are disconnected and the ignition is off. Otherwise, when connecting the wires, a spark may jump or electronic devices may be damaged. Pay attention to the quality of the connection to the "Ground" and the cleanliness of the contacts. High transition resistances lead to overload of electronic control units, especially when starting, and, in extreme cases, the units may even fail.

Connect the wires to the battery, first the positive, then the negative, paying attention to the polarity of the connection.

Caution: If the battery is connected incorrectly, serious damage to the generator and other electrical components may occur.

Lubricate the battery contacts with a special anti-corrosion lubricant or petroleum jelly.

Set the clock readings.

If necessary, enter the radio receiver security codes and re-tune the receiver.
