Engine mounts — replacement with the engine installed on the vehicle (Mazda Capella GC)

1. Engine mounts can be replaced with the engine/transmission installed on the vehicle. Check the rubber mounts with a large screwdriver or pry bar to determine if they have hardened, cracked, or separated from the metal mounts (photo).



2. Disconnect the negative cable from the battery.

3. Jack up the front of the vehicle and securely place it on axle stands and jack stands.

4. Support the engine with a jack.

5. Remove the right front wheel and inner fender panel for access

6. Remove the rubber access plug and mounting bolt (photo).

Use a screwdriver to remove the rubber plug from the anti-rotation stop

The anti-rotation stop bolt is accessible through a frost hole in the inner fender

7. In the engine compartment, remove the bolts and remove the stopper from the engine.

8. Remove the mounting nuts from underneath the vehicle.

9. In the engine compartment, remove the mounting bolt and then remove the mount from the engine.

10. Assembly is carried out in reverse order.
