Dismantling



1. Remove the mounting screws and the cover from the rear of the pump (photo).

2. Remove all mechanisms from the pump body. You may need to rotate the housing to remove the mechanisms.

3. Place the pump body in a soft vice and remove the compression ring, plug, pressure regulator valve plunger and spring.

Inspection



4. Wash the oil pump parts in solvent.

5. Inspect components for wear, cracks, or other damage.



6. Check the external clearance (intermediate gear) gear/crescent, internal clearance gear (drive), crescent, external clearance gear/pump housing and clearance gear/cover, referring to the accompanying illustrations and Specifications.

7. Replace the oil seal as needed.

8. Install the valve, plunger and spring assembly and compression ring.

9. Lubricate and install the mechanisms.

10. Install the pump cover and tighten the screws securely. Use thread locking agent.
