Oil pump — removal and installation (Mazda Capella GC)

Oil pump installation details

1. Asterisk; 2. Pallet; 3. Oil sensor mesh filter

Removal

1. Remove the timing belt covers, timing belt and crankshaft sprocket.

2. Remove the tray.

3. Remove the front engine mount plate cover bolts.

4. Unscrew and remove the transmitter tube assembly.

5. Insert a screwdriver into the corner of the cover to break the gasket and remove the cover.

6. Clean the oil pump mating surfaces to remove old gasket material.

Installation

7. Coat the O-ring with Vaseline and insert into the pump. Cover the pump housing with sealant as shown in the accompanying illustration. Coat the seal lip with clean engine oil.

Apply sealant to the dark areas of the oil pump housing

8. Place the pump and new gasket and install the bolts. Tighten the bolts to the torque specified in the Specifications.

9. Using a new gasket, install the transmission tube. Tighten the bolts to the specified tightening torque Specifications.

10. Install the tray.

11. Install a new oil filter and replace the oil pressure sensor harness (if deleted).

12. Install the engine mount plate and tighten the bolts.

13. Install the timing belt, covers and crankshaft sprocket.
