Note: Purchase a repair kit to replace the case. The kit includes a special molybdenum grease for CV joints. Use only this lubricant.
1. Remove the drive shaft (Chapter 7).
2. Clamp the drive shaft assembly in a vise with slips to protect the surface from damage.
3. Cut the case straps (photo).
Cut the fastening belt of the CV joint cover
4. Pull off the cover from the CV joint.
5. Remove the outer ring mounting bracket of the CV joint (if applicable) with a screwdriver (photo).

6. Remove the thrust ring and pull the CV joint assembly from the grooves of the drive shaft (photo).
Remove the bearing ferrule (tripod type bearing)
7. Pull the boot off the shaft.
8. It is recommended to replace both covers even if only one of them is damaged.
9. Carefully clean the CV joint and shaft assembly grooves and inspect them for wear, damage, and contamination with water and dirt. Replace any damaged components with new ones.
10. Wrap duct tape around the grooves of the shaft to prevent damage to the bearing surface of the new boot during installation. Lightly grease the inside edge of the new boot and install it on the drive shaft.
Note: The boots installed on the ends of the drive shaft are different from each other, do not mix them up.
11. Remove the tape, apply a little grease to the grooves and install the CV joint assembly and thrust ring so that the yoke tapered edge is facing the shaft (photo).
Bevel grooves (marked with an arrow) must face the shaft
12. Fill the CV joint with special molybdenum grease (photo).

13. Install the outer ring.
14. Install the edges of the boot into the grooves.
15. Install the boot straps so that the locking tab is bent in the opposite direction to the rotation of the drive shaft when the vehicle is moving.
16. Tighten the strap with a pair of pliers and secure it by bending the locking tabs (photo).
Fasten the case
17. Install the drive shaft.
