Installing the rear oil seal and rear cover (Mazda Capella GC)

Apply a thin layer of engine oil to the outer surface of the oil seal and install the oil seal into the rear cover socket. Using a mandrel, press the seal evenly until it is fully seated. The seal lips must be facing inward when installed.

Apply a layer of sealant to the gasket and contact surfaces of the back cover.

Apply a thin layer of engine oil to the seal lip, replace the gasket and tighten the bolts. Tighten the bolts to the specified torque.



Carefully trim off the portion of the gasket that protrudes beyond the dimensions of the rear cover and that fits onto the mating surface of the oil pan (figure 3.55).
