Note: The tailgate is very heavy and awkward to use, so we recommend having two people remove and install it.


Removal and installation



1. Open the tailgate and secure it in this position.

2. Remove the upper door trim panel and disconnect all electrical wiring connectors (figure 24.2, a, b). On models with a tailgate glass washer, remove the headliner and disconnect the washer nozzle hose.

3. Ask an assistant to support the door and remove the support posts (see paragraph 26).

4. Mark the position of the door hinges to facilitate subsequent installation.

5. Loosen the nuts securing the hinges to the door and remove the door from the car (figure 24.5).

6. Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal.

Adjustment



7. Adjusting the height of the luggage compartment door relative to the surrounding panels is done by moving the door lock. Loosen the lock mounting bolts and move the lock up or down, then tighten the lock mounting bolts.

Note: Mark the position of the latch before adjusting.
