Note. The trunk lid is very heavy and uncomfortable. Therefore, we recommend removing and installing the cover with an assistant.
Removal and installation
1. Open the trunk lid and cover the corners of the trunk with rags to protect surrounding parts when removing the lid.
2. Disconnect the wiring connectors for license plate lights, brake lights, trunk lock actuator, then disconnect the wires from the trunk lid (see paragraphs 22 and 23). Before pulling the wires from the trunk lid, tie strings to them to facilitate subsequent assembly.
3. For Mazda 626, mark the position of the trunk lid hinges.
4. On the MX-6 model, remove the support legs of the trunk lid (see paragraph 26).
5. Turn out bolts/nuts of fastening of loops to a luggage carrier cover and remove a cover from the car.
6. Installation is made in sequence, return to removal. Before tightening the cover bolts, align the hinges with the marks made before crushing.
Adjustment
7. After installation, close the cover and make sure it lines up with the surrounding panels. Adjusting the cover forward and © back and left-right is carried out by moving the hinges of the cover. To adjust, loosen the hinge bolts and slide the cover in the desired direction. Tighten the hinge bolts.
6. The height of the trailing edge of the lid is adjusted by moving the lid latch. Loosen the bolts securing the latch and move it in the desired direction (up-down or left-right), then tighten the latch bolts.
Note. Before starting the adjustment, note the I position of the latch.
